I was having dinner with my family at a pizza place in Iowa when something amazing happened.
“I’ve breastfed my three kids,” I shared on Facebook, along with a photo of our dinner bill. “I’ve done it in all sorts of places, both public and private, through good times and bad. I’ve gotten a lot of looks and stares, but tonight changed everything. It was our first time eating at Fongs. My baby was fussy, so I breastfed him in the booth before leaving early to avoid bothering other diners.
“My husband got this receipt from the waitress, and I was so touched I couldn’t speak. It felt wonderful, even though I don’t think I deserve special recognition for feeding my child. Women supporting women is incredible.”
The waitress, Bodi Kinney, wrote the note. She told Des Moines’ KCCI 8 News, “We need to come together and support each other when it comes to nursing our children.”
