A shirt with a supposed insult on it sold at a Walmart caught attention online after several shoppers noticed a big mistake in its design. A person on Twitter shared a photo of a green shirt at Walmart that praised recycling. The shirt had a large “RE” on one side and words like ‘cycle’, ‘use’, ‘new’, and ‘think’ on the other. However, it accidentally spelled out a very offensive term. A Walmart representative told Newsweek, “We did not plan this, and we have taken the shirt off the shelves.” The shirt was only sold in Canada.

This isn’t the first time a bad design has gotten attention online. For example, a $1.5 million house in 2022 made people laugh because it had a pool shaped like male genitalia. Also, a see-through toilet seat filled with dried flowers got a lot of criticism. Many people on Reddit said, “A clear toilet seat is probably the worst idea.”

The person who first tweeted about the shirt said, “I found the shirt at a local Walmart. It made me laugh.” Some social media users knew Walmart would quickly pull the shirts, so they rushed to buy them. Another shopper mentioned, “Knowing Walmart, these shirts will be gone soon. It’s just a funny story for now.”

Many on social media did find the shirt funny. One person wrote, “I laughed so hard when I saw it. I want one because I love trees. The hidden word is just an extra treat.” Another added, “I always wonder how many people check these things before they go on sale.”

Some believed the shirt shouldn’t have been removed from stores. One person said, “People have too much time on their hands and think the worst. The shirt wasn’t meant to be read that way. It shows more about the thoughts of the people who see that than the designer.”

Walmart has a history of selling items that cause a stir. They once sold shirts with inappropriate slogans about sex and drugs. When this was pointed out, Walmart responded, “This should not have been sold on our site. It wasn’t directly from us but from third-party sellers. It goes against our rules. We’re sorry if it upset anyone, and we’ve removed it right away.”

Regarding the controversial shirts, most reactions were just jokes and playful comments. One user said, “I love the message; it’s straightforward.” Another suggested, “They should’ve taken them off the shelves, raised the prices, and put them back for sale!” A third person added, “Now that someone mentioned it, I’m ten times more likely to buy one!”
