Firstly, we want to make it clear that we’re not blaming anyone here. It’s a fact that many people pee in the shower, and we believe it’s a common practice.

Women, will you confess to doing this at home? Right now, our lawyers suggest we neither confirm nor deny these claims.

Luckily, we’re not the only ones. According to Shape Magazine, a surprising 80% of those asked admitted they pee in the shower.

Some might think this is just a small habit, but some doctors advise against it, especially for women. We’re not admitting anything ourselves, but we wonder why they would recommend this!

This inquiry is part of our scientific study. Dr. Alicia Jeffrey Thomas recently posted about this on TikTok under the username @scrambledjam. Her videos explain that this habit might be harmful to our health.

Dr. Stacey Picart, a gynecologist, adds more. She says, “If your pelvic floor muscles are too tight, it could stop your bladder from emptying fully. This might lead to frequent urinary tract infections.” Continuing to pee in the shower might train our bodies to follow these unhealthy patterns.

Dr. Picart continues, “Peeing in the shower when you don’t really need to can teach your bladder to empty at smaller amounts. This reduces its capacity to hold more urine. Plus, it might train your brain to think it needs to pee every time it hears water running, which could be troublesome.”

On a personal note, we’re not too concerned about holding larger amounts of urine. We manage just fine on long car rides and at other times throughout the day. It’s unlikely that peeing occasionally in the shower will make us lose control of our bladders, right?

What are your thoughts on the TikTok video? We’d love to hear from you!
