We adopted a 3-year-old boy, and when my husband tried to bathe him for the first time, he yelled, ‘We need to take him back!’

Mia and Mark wanted a child so badly that it took over their lives. They were determined to do whatever it took to make it happen.

After many failed attempts to conceive and spending lots of money on treatments and IVF, they accepted they couldn’t have a baby naturally.

They decided to adopt. But the process wasn’t easy.

Mark was busy with work, so Mia handled everything. She contacted agencies, filled out forms, and reviewed profiles of children needing homes.

While going through the paperwork, she saw a little boy, about three years old.

At first, they had planned to adopt a baby. But when they realized the chances were slim, they decided on a toddler.

The boy Mia saw had the most beautiful eyes, blue like the sky. When she looked at his photo, it felt like she had known him forever.

When everything was finalized, they brought Sam home.

Sam was the sweetest boy. Within weeks, he adjusted to his new family and even started calling Mia “mom.”

Life seemed perfect. Mia’s dream of being a mother had come true, and she couldn’t have been happier. She was thankful for how things turned out and felt content with their new life.

But one evening changed everything.

As Sam got ready for his bath, Mark offered to bathe him. Mia thought it would help them bond, so she happily agreed.

While helping Sam into the bathtub, Mark suddenly said, “We have to give him back!”

Mia froze. She couldn’t believe what she had heard.

“How can we return a child, Mark?” she asked, confused.

Mark looked serious. He said he couldn’t handle their new life and felt it was all too overwhelming.

Mia was heartbroken. His sudden change of heart shocked her. She sensed there was more to the story.

That night, Mia couldn’t sleep. Then a thought struck her. Both Mark and Sam had birthmarks on their feet. She went to check Sam’s birthmark. It looked almost identical to Mark’s.

The next morning, she confronted Mark. She asked if he had something to admit. Mark broke down and confessed. He believed Sam was his biological son. The birthmark had convinced him.

He admitted to having an affair with a woman he met at a bar. Mia was crushed. While she was going through painful IVF treatments, Mark had been unfaithful. He claimed it was a one-time mistake, but Mia was devastated.

Mark felt guilty, but Mia couldn’t forgive him. She couldn’t stay with someone who had betrayed her. Mark agreed to give her full custody of Sam.

Mark didn’t completely disappear from Sam’s life. He stayed in touch through occasional visits and gifts on special occasions.

Mia felt she made the right decision for herself and Sam. Seeing Mark’s willingness to give up his child to hide his affair confirmed it.
