A woman refused to give up on her husband after doctors told her to “pull the plug” after a crash that nearly killed him.

Danielle Davis’ husband, Matt Davis, had a motorcycle accident seven months after they got married, she told WTOC. Nine days later, doctors suggested removing him from life support.

“They said if it were them, they’d pull the plug,” Danielle recalled. “That’s what they’d want their family to do.”

But Danielle refused to lose hope. She believed God could still save him.

“I didn’t think it was too much for God to handle,” she explained.

Matt was sent home, and Danielle, along with her mother-in-law, became his caregivers.

“If he’s coming home, let’s give him the best view possible,” Danielle told her mom, as ABC News reported. “If he’s going to be in bed, let’s make it worth it.”

Then one day, Matt spoke.

“I’m trying,” he said.

Over the next few months, therapy helped Matt recover. His personality also came back, and one moment stood out to Danielle.

“He suddenly said, ‘buffalo chicken wrap from Cheddar’s,’” Danielle told ABC News. “We all turned around because we knew exactly what he meant.”

Years later, Matt regained his ability to walk and much of his memory. However, he still doesn’t recall dating or marrying Danielle—they had only dated for two months before tying the knot.

After the accident, Matt had advice for other husbands.

“Guys, take out the trash. You never know when you won’t be able to,” he told WTOC.

Many readers admired Danielle for not giving up on Matt and keeping faith in his recovery.

“Nothing’s too hard for our God, just have faith,” one Facebook user wrote.

“With God, all things are possible,” added another.

“I cried reading this,” one ABC News reader shared. “Such a loving story! Wishing you both a happy future.”

“I love this story. What an amazing woman! Best wishes to you both,” another reader commented.
