Rescue takes in severely matted dog who looks like a wig — today she’s unrecognizable

A haircut can work wonders, especially for a dog. Dogs that are left alone or lost often have messy, tangled fur that can cause them pain.

A rescue team recently found a stray dog so covered in fur she “looked like a wig” before she was transformed.

Mac’s Mission, a charity in Missouri that helps dogs with special needs, rescued a very matted dog found on a road. They named her Pear, and her fur was so thick and tangled, she was in terrible shape.

The rescue team said Pear “didn’t even look like a dog.” She looked more like a wig and was just a bundle of hair.

After taking her in, volunteers started working on Pear, giving her a “spa session” to remove all the tangled fur.

Rochelle Steffent, the founder of the rescue, told Newsweek, “We cleaned her up, shaved off her fur, and gave her a bath to wash away dirt and fleas.” She quickly fell asleep once she settled in one of our spots.

Pear was gentle and patient throughout the cleanup, even though removing her thick mats took a long time.

Steffent also mentioned how lucky Pear was to avoid a car accident and that thankfully, her fur had no maggots. However, Pear might have lost an eye in a past incident.

Mac’s Mission shared before and after photos of Pear, highlighting her incredible transformation.

On Facebook, the rescue thanked their supporters, saying, “Thanks to you all, Pear has a new life ahead of her.”

It’s hard to imagine it’s the same dog because Pear now looks so beautiful! Thanks to Mac’s Mission for giving this lovely dog the help she needed!
