Princess Kate sparks debate with latest outfit
Catherine, Princess of Wales – formerly known as Kate Middleton – returned to public royal duties on Monday, March 10, during a key event in the royal calendar. The day marked Commonwealth Day, bringing the royal family together for a service at Westminster Abbey.
This appearance held special meaning as Kate had missed last year's event due to her cancer diagnosis. King Charles, who has also been focusing on recovery recently, resumed his responsibilities after his own break.
The King arrived first with Queen Camilla, followed by Prince William and Princess Kate. When father and son met, they exchanged brief words not caught by cameras. Lip reader Jeremy Freeman told the Mirror that Charles said "Nice to see you" to William, who greeted his father respectfully with cheek kisses.
Body language specialist Judi James noted a shift in William and Kate's interactions during recent appearances. While they had previously used every chance to touch each other publicly following the cancer diagnosis, this time they displayed a more formal approach, moving independently yet still coordinating their movements.
Kate, resuming her public responsibilities, wore a striking red Catherine Walker outfit resembling a coat, paired with a matching Gina Foster pillbox hat.

Her clothing choice generated considerable social media conversation, with some royal followers suggesting a possible hidden message. Many believe the outfit might relate to the tense relationship between the United States and Canada.
"Plus Princess Kate is wearing Canada's red with a white pearl necklace," one person commented about her attire choice.
"I also think the Princess of Wales is using her wardrobe to signal her support," another individual remarked.
"Apparently Catherine wore red with white pearls to show solidarity with Canada," a different user stated.
Canada has recently made headlines after US President Donald Trump suggested the country should become America's 51st state. Trump has also implemented significant tariffs on goods traded between the two nations.
Canada belongs to the Commonwealth of Nations, an organization comprising the United Kingdom and its previous colonies and territories abroad. The Commonwealth encompasses 56 member nations, including Great Britain, Canada, and Australia. While King Charles serves as Canada's monarch, the actual authority in the country lies with the prime minister and the governor general of Canada.
The public appearances of both Charles and Kate represent significant milestones in their return to royal responsibilities. Both royals continue to recover from their health challenges while resuming their duties.
Kate's choice of attire has prompted discussions about potential diplomatic messaging through fashion. Her red ensemble with white pearls has been interpreted by many as a gesture of solidarity with Canada during a period of international tension.
