Prince William shared that he and his brother enjoyed listening to Tina Turner’s song ‘The Best’ during their rides back to school. Princess Diana would sing loudly while driving them.

William, who will be the next king, talked about these fond memories of his mother to help ease the boys’ anxiety about returning to boarding school.

He mentioned a specific family moment. “My mother would be driving and singing loudly,” he recalled. Continue reading to find out more about William’s favorite songs and what he calls his “tonic for a Monday morning.”

While walking, William shared his favorite songs that bring back happy memories from his childhood to now.

A memorable childhood moment involved his mother, Princess Diana, playing Tina Turner’s song to calm him and Prince Harry before school. This song remains a way for William to remember his mother.

William remembered, “When we were young and at boarding school, my mother played various songs to ease our worries about school.”

He vividly remembers one song in particular, ‘The Best’ by Tina Turner. “It felt like a true family moment,” he said.

Princess Diana led the singing, with even the policeman in the car joining in occasionally.

William added, “You’d keep singing and listening to the music until you reached the school gates. That’s when you realized you were really going back to school. Before that, you were lost in the music. You’d want to replay the song to keep the family feeling alive.”

“Now, when I hear the song, it brings back those car rides and many memories of my mother,” he said.

Regarding his own children, William tries to create similar musical moments. He manages morning disputes between his kids, Prince George, Princess Charlotte, and Prince Louis, over which song to play.

“There’s usually a big fight between Charlotte and George about which song to play. I have to alternate their choices,” the Prince explained.

At the time, one of the kids’ favorite songs was Shakira’s ‘Waka Waka.’

For another song choice, William picked AC/DC’s ‘Thunderstruck,’ which he believes is perfect for starting the week.

He explained, “There’s nothing better than listening to ‘Thunderstruck’ by AC/DC on a Monday morning to shake off the weekend and get ready for the week. It’s a great way to wake up and feel ready to take on anything.”

“I initially thought it was a bit intense for a Monday morning, but now, it’s the best way to start the week,” he added.

“It really wakes you up, sets the tone for your week, and makes you feel unstoppable. You might even find yourself walking faster, maybe even with a skip in your step, as you listen,” he concluded.

Prince William’s sharing of these memories with Tina Turner’s music is cherished as “simply the best.”
