A devastating plane crash claimed the lives of seven members of the well-known Nelons gospel music family.
The victims were Jason and Kelly Nelon Clark, their daughter Amber, son-in-law Nathan Kistler, family assistant Melanie Hodges, and the pilot, Larry Haynie, along with his wife Melissa.
The only survivor from the family, Autumn Nelon Streetman, shared an emotional message, expressing her deep sadness and gratitude for the community’s prayers and support.
The family was headed to Alaska for the Gaither Homecoming Cruise when the plane crashed in Wyoming. Witnesses said they saw the aircraft falling from the sky in flames. Emergency crews responded quickly, but no one survived.
The Nelons were widely known for their gospel music and were honored in the Gospel Music Association Hall of Fame in 2016.
They made many popular songs such as “I Shall Not Be Moved,” “Come Morning,” and “We Shall Wear a Robe and Crown,” leaving a strong impact on gospel music.
Autumn shared her “grief and thankfulness for the prayers and support” as the family and the gospel music community cope with this enormous loss.
The National Transportation Safety Board is looking into what caused the crash.
This tragic accident has greatly affected the gospel music world, which continues to remember and celebrate the Nelons for their lasting legacy and major contributions to the genre.
