Most U.S. neighborhoods have a Homeowners Association (HOA). HOAs help keep houses looking consistent and can also help pay for community conveniences. However, resident Emilio Rodriguez bought his house in Pflugerville, Texas specifically because it doesn’t have an HOA. This allowed him to fulfill his dream of painting everything pink, a decision that is causing some problems with his neighbors.

Emilio’s Pink Dream

Emilio, who bought his house when it was beige, has transformed it into his favorite color: Pepto-Bismol pink. “I love this house. I don’t know why people don’t like it,” Emilio told CBS17. He has plans to paint more parts of his home pink, much to the dismay of his neighbors.

Neighbors’ Concerns

The neighbors are upset about the pink house. They are worried that it will bring down property values in the area. Despite this, Emilio, who is wheelchair-bound after a car accident and several health issues, says the color of his house makes him happy. He also believes the color helps maintain the “Keep Austin Weird” vibe, a popular motto in the city.
