Genevieve felt uneasy when her ex-husband, Anthony, brought a large rocking horse for their son, Ethan. She knew Anthony often had secret reasons for his actions, especially when they involved Ethan.
She kept her concerns to herself, despite her uneasy feeling.
Ethan was delighted with the rocking horse. He joyfully played on it for hours, filling the room with his laughter. However, Genevieve still sensed something odd about the gift. Her doubts grew when Anthony unexpectedly canceled their pizza dinner plans.
Over the next few days, Ethan grew very fond of the rocking horse, using it non-stop. Then, odd sounds started coming from it.
Initially, Genevieve thought the old wood was just creaking as Ethan used it. But she soon realized the noise was a constant clicking, getting louder and more frequent.
One evening, unable to ignore the noise, Genevieve examined the horse more closely. She was stunned to find a tiny voice recorder hidden inside.
Suddenly, it all clicked—Anthony was spying on her, probably to collect information for their custody dispute over Ethan.
Angry but composed, Genevieve called her lawyer, who assured her that such recordings wouldn’t be valid in court. With this advice, she devised a clever response.
She decided to fill the recorder with endless hours of dull TV sounds, ensuring it would be worthless to Anthony.
When Anthony visited next, he discreetly took the recorder from the rocking horse, pretending nothing was unusual. Genevieve observed him, hiding her sense of victory.
She was confident that Anthony had not obtained anything useful. He didn’t mention the recorder, silently acknowledging his plan had failed.
Genevieve had safeguarded her son and outwitted her ex-husband. Though it was a minor win, it reinforced her resolve to always protect her son’s well-being.
