Old Lonely Lady Receives Deliveries from Unknown Person Every Day, the Last Was a New Home

An elderly woman named Emma, who lived alone and had little money, began getting daily deliveries from someone she didn’t know. She had no children with her late husband, so she couldn’t figure out who was sending these gifts. When Emma Richards lost her husband, John, seven years ago, her heart broke. She knew she would have to spend the rest of her days by herself, taking care of her own needs since there was no one else to help her. She and John never had kids to support her in her old age. Whenever someone asked why, Emma would just shrug and change the subject.

One afternoon, as Emma sat in her bedroom watching television, the doorbell rang. She wasn’t expecting anyone, so she got up to see who it was. When she opened the door, a delivery man in his 40s stood there holding a few boxes. He wore a mask, so she couldn’t see his face clearly.

“Hello. I wasn’t expecting any packages. Do you know who sent these?” Emma asked politely.

“I’m sorry, ma’am, but these were sent anonymously. Don’t worry, though—our team checked them, and they’re completely safe. These are for you,” he explained, setting the boxes down on the table near the door.

“How odd… thank you, dear,” Emma replied before closing the door.

Once the delivery man left, Emma quickly opened the boxes to see what was inside. The first box contained small kitchen gadgets like a toaster oven, a sandwich maker, and a coffee machine. “Who could be sending me all this?” she wondered aloud. She opened the second box and found lovely clothes and groceries.

Every day after that, more packages arrived. The same delivery man always brought them, so Emma decided to ask him more about himself.

“What’s your name, dear?” she inquired.

“I’m Ted Harrison,” the man replied with a smile. “Mrs. Richards, the sender asked me to give you this. I’ll wait while you read it,” he added, handing her an envelope.

Curious, Emma opened the envelope and read the note inside. It said: *Mrs. Richards, please let me know what you need, and I will provide it for you.*

“Oh, I’m so eager to find out who’s been sending me all these things! Now they’re even asking me to make requests!” she exclaimed.

“I’m sure the sender cares about you deeply, even if you don’t know who it is,” Ted said kindly.

Emma decided to write down a few things she needed, keeping her list simple so as not to burden the mysterious sender.

From that day on, Emma began preparing small snacks for Ted whenever he came by. For a whole month, he delivered packages filled with clothes, food, books, and other thoughtful items. Over time, Emma grew fond of Ted’s visits. He would stay awhile, sharing snacks with her and helping with chores she couldn’t manage on her own.

But one day, Ted didn’t show up. Worried, Emma went to the local post office to look for him.

“Excuse me, could you please call Ted Harrison for me? I brought some donuts for him,” she asked the young woman at the front desk. The woman looked puzzled.

“I’m sorry, ma’am, but no one named Ted Harrison works here,” she replied.

“That’s strange… he’s been delivering packages to me every day,” Emma said, feeling disappointed. She didn’t know where else to find Ted, and it troubled her.

As she walked home, her mind raced with questions. Who was this kind stranger? Did I go to the wrong post office? Was Ted even a real delivery man?

When she reached her front porch, she noticed a small box waiting by the door. Inside, she found a key and a note that read:

*I discovered the truth a month ago when I hired a private investigator to learn about my past. I know you blame yourself and regret what happened, but I want you to know I don’t hold it against you. I understand you only wanted what was best for me.*

*You and your husband couldn’t provide for me, so you gave me up for adoption. I was raised by a wealthy family who loved me, but something always felt missing. I realized that something was you, Mom.*

*You’ve been missing from my life, and I want to change that. If you’re willing, I’ve bought a new house and made a copy of the key for you. Please let me take care of you. With love, your delivery man, Ted.*

By the time she finished reading, Emma was trembling. She had always dreamed of seeing her son before she died, and she couldn’t believe it was Ted who had found her. Her son was Ted! Tears streamed down her face as the guilt from her past resurfaced.

What Ted had discovered was true. Years ago, Emma and John were struggling financially when they learned she was pregnant. They knew they couldn’t give Ted a good life, so they made the difficult decision to put him up for adoption.

They left him at an orphanage when he was just a baby. Along with his belongings, Emma left a letter explaining why they couldn’t raise him. The letter was anonymous, but after persuading the orphanage to share his adoption records, Ted found Emma’s name.

Emma wanted to see Ted right away. She got ready to leave her house and find him, but before she could, there was a knock at the door. She opened it to find Ted standing there.

“Hi, Mom,” Ted said gently.

Emma burst into tears. “I can’t believe it’s you. My son,” she sobbed, pulling him into a tight hug. “I’m so sorry, my dear. I truly am. I hope you can forgive me,” she cried.

“You don’t need to apologize, Mom. I’m here because I want to be with you. It’s not too late for us to start over. We can still be a family,” Ted said, finally breaking their long embrace.

That evening, Ted and Emma packed her belongings into boxes. A truck waited outside to take her things to Ted’s new home. When they arrived, Emma was surprised to meet Ted’s wife and children. They were just as excited as Ted to welcome her into their family. From that day on, Emma never had to be alone again.
