Jake Lloyd is getting better at a mental health center. He thrilled everyone with his performance as young Anakin Skywalker in “Star Wars: Episode I – The Phantom Menace.” This is big news for the star because it comes from his mother, Lisa Lloyd. During a major mental health crisis ten months ago, Lloyd started an intensive inpatient program.

Scary Things That Lead to Help

A simple trip home was where the road to recovery started without planning to. Lloyd, who is now 35 years old, shocked his mother when he tried to turn off the car while behind the wheel in heavy traffic. This caused a heated argument. Calls to 911 and Lloyd’s interaction with the cops were caused by this scary event, which caused a lot of traffic problems. Problematically, he had trouble communicating clearly, a problem called “word salad” that is often connected to schizophrenia—a diagnosis Lloyd got in 2008.

Starting with a crisis and ending with recovery

Lloyd was taken to the hospital after the event and then moved to a rehab center where he would stay for 18 months to deal with his mental health problems. When Lisa Lloyd says that her son’s growth has been better than expected, it gives people hope. Significant progress has been made in his situation, as he is becoming more social and getting along better with those around him.

Dealing with Problems

Some things have gotten in the way of Jake Lloyd’s journey. During a high-speed chase in June 2015, he got into trouble with the law and was arrested. He then served 10 months in jail and went to get help for his mental health. This new information about his health shows how strong he is in the face of these problems, and it shows how hard it is for many people to deal with mental health problems.

People who used to be child stars like Jake Lloyd are going through a lot. His story is not only about his problems, but also about how brave people need to be to face and get through mental health problems. It’s inspiring to see how he got better after starting from a galaxy far, far away. It shows how strong resolve is and how important it is to ask for help.
