Health fears for Donald Trump grow after second mark spotted on his hand
Social media users have once again raised concerns about U.S. President Donald Trump’s health after a newly surfaced image of his hand started making rounds online.
Earlier this year, photographs taken during Trump’s meeting with French President Emmanuel Macron—coinciding with the third anniversary of Russia’s incursion into Ukraine—sparked discussions when observers spotted a dark discoloration on the back of his right hand.
After the press conference, the image rapidly gained traction, with users on X (formerly known as Twitter) commenting on the noticeable mark.
One person remarked, “I was browsing Getty and couldn’t help but notice this striking photo of a large bruise on Trump’s hand today.”
Another individual observed, “There have been several images over the past few months showing discoloration on Trump’s hand… It always appears on the same side.”
A third user questioned, “There’s a significant bruise on the back of Trump’s right hand. What could have caused it?”

Persistent Speculation

Some theorized that Trump may have attempted to conceal the mark with cosmetic products, citing a Getty Images description that suggested the area had been “covered in make-up.”
At the time, White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt dismissed the speculation, attributing the bruising to Trump’s high level of physical engagement with the public.
“President Trump is a leader who remains closely connected to the American people, shaking hands and interacting with more citizens daily than any previous president,” Leavitt stated in a response reported by NBC.
She later reinforced this stance, emphasizing, “The bruises on President Trump’s hand are simply a result of his relentless work ethic and constant engagement with supporters.”

Mark Resurfaces, Fueling New Debate
The conversation reignited this week when Trump was seen during a meeting with Irish Prime Minister Micheál Martin, where the same discoloration appeared once again. This led to renewed speculation on social media, with many questioning the cause behind the recurring mark.
Medical experts weighed in on potential explanations. Speaking with The Mirror, dermatologist Dr. Anatalia Moore suggested that Trump’s age could be a factor in the apparent bruising.
“For individuals in their seventies—especially those who may not be in peak physical condition—even minor contact with hard surfaces can result in noticeable bruises,” Dr. Moore explained. “Hands and limbs are particularly susceptible to such injuries, as motor skills and balance tend to diminish with age.”
She elaborated on the biological process behind bruising, describing how dark red or purple discoloration occurs when blood collects beneath the skin. Over time, as the body repairs itself, the affected area transitions through shades of green and yellow. This healing process is typically prolonged in older adults due to slower cell regeneration.
Despite the White House’s insistence that there is nothing unusual about Trump’s bruising, public curiosity remains high, as images of his discolored hand continue circulating widely. Some users have even compared older photographs, trying to determine if the issue has persisted over a longer period.
While officials maintain that the marks are merely a sign of an active lifestyle, speculation is unlikely to subside anytime soon, with critics and supporters alike dissecting every new image that emerges.
