A Scary Turn During a Fun Trip!
Greg Vaughan, the beloved actor from “Days of Our Lives,” experienced a frightening health scare that landed him in the hospital. Known for his role as Eric Brady, and also seen as Lucky Spencer in “General Hospital,” Vaughan was looking forward to a fun and relaxing vacation with his kids in Breckenridge, Colorado. However, things took a turn for the worse just one day into their skiing and snowboarding adventure.
Too High, Too Fast!
Vaughan found himself feeling unusually tired, congested, and short of breath. Despite hoping it wasn’t anything serious, he tried remedies like NyQuil and Pedialyte but soon realized he needed medical attention. The diagnosis? A severe case of altitude sickness caused by ascending too quickly to a high elevation, leading to fluid accumulating in his lungs and an alarmingly low blood oxygen level of just 54%.
Recovery and a Lesson Learned
Thankfully, Vaughan received the care he needed, including being hooked up to IVs and oxygen. The experience was a wake-up call for him, and now he’s sharing his story to caution others about the risks of high-altitude activities. “The Rockies are no joke,” he warned, emphasizing the importance of taking the potential dangers seriously.
Vaughan’s close call serves as a reminder of the unpredictable challenges that can arise when exploring the great outdoors, especially at high altitudes. Thankfully, he’s on the mend and has turned his harrowing experience into an opportunity to educate others on the importance of acclimatization and recognizing the symptoms of altitude sickness. Here’s to a speedy recovery, Greg, and to safer adventures ahead!
