Even if you catch a cold, you must keep going when on a record-breaking global tour. Taylor Swift showed her dedication by managing a runny nose during her Edinburgh concert this past weekend.

Taylor Swift Powers Through Cold Conditions

At the Scottish concert, the Pennsylvania-born pop star was seen wiping her nose with her fingers and then on her sparkly dress. This happened during the first part of her UK tour. Last weekend, over 219,000 fans saw the 34-year-old’s three shows at Murrayfield Stadium.

Despite summer being just around the corner, the chilly stadium air likely made things worse for her. Some think the cold air caused her discomfort, especially when she was seen wiping her nose while performing “Don’t Blame Me.” The temperature dropped to below 46.4 degrees Fahrenheit on concert night. In a video, Taylor is shown blowing her nose into her hands, letting the snot fall, and then wiping it on her dress.

Mixed Reactions from the Crowd

As Taylor dealt with her visibly red nose, some fans claimed she flicked mucous towards them. While some showed concern, many voiced their displeasure online. One person posted, “Taylor Swift blew her nose and snot on her dress on stage.” Some fans also saw Taylor licking snot from her nose.

“Someone please give Taylor Swift some tissues,” another fan said, clearly appalled. “It’s crazy how often I’ve seen her wipe her nose with her hands in recent days. She’s performing, but surely there’s a way to ensure she always has tissues,” they added.

Support from Some Fans

However, a few defended her. “I’m not even a Swiftie, but I really don’t understand why anyone would be upset or disgusted by someone wiping their nose,” one supporter stated. “What was she supposed to do? She probably didn’t have a tissue, but at least she wasn’t letting snot run all over her face.”

The UK Tour Continues

Taylor Swift’s UK tour started with three shows in Edinburgh. Next, she will perform for eight nights at Wembley and have shows in Cardiff and Liverpool. In London alone, 720,000 fans are expected. After Europe, she returns to the US for nine more concerts in Miami, New Orleans, and Indianapolis. She has already completed 53 shows in the US and will perform in 18 European cities.

Fan Devotion and Its Economic Impact

Before Taylor even arrived, her devoted fans were already queuing up 48 hours early. An impressive 220,000 people are keen to catch a glimpse and buy merchandise. However, due to fast hotel bookings, many in Edinburgh found it hard to find accommodation. Hotels tripled their prices for her three-day stay from June 7 to June 9.

The British economy is set to gain about £1 billion from her Eras tour. Besides ticket costs, fans also spend on hotels, travel, pre-show meals, and official merchandise. Many also buy new outfits for the big event. On average, each UK fan spends £848 to see their idol.

Ticket Controversy: High Global Demand

UK fans have struggled to get tickets since her Scottish debut last weekend. Americans buying up UK shows is one reason. Since it’s been eight years since her last Scotland show, fans took to social media to express their frustrations with some attendees’ travel arrangements.

Meanwhile, Americans explained their difficulty getting tickets in their own country and noted that, due to the strong dollar, European dates are cheaper. Swiftie fans worldwide have faced challenges securing tickets, with 4.35 million sold globally due to immense demand.
