WASHINGTON, D.C.: Errol Musk, father of billionaire entrepreneur Elon Musk, faced widespread backlash online after making an unfounded and inflammatory assertion about former First Lady Michelle Obama, according to a report by Marca on Saturday, February 15.

Despite a complete lack of credible evidence, a baseless conspiracy theory has circulated for years among extreme right-wing circles. During his appearance on a podcast, Errol attempted to present this long-debunked claim as “widely known information” while also making other deeply inappropriate remarks about Michelle Obama.

Errol Musk’s Controversial Remarks on Michelle Obama

While speaking with Joshua Rubin on the Wide Awake Podcast, Errol Musk began by taking aim at former U.S. President Barack Obama, making an offensive and unsubstantiated claim:

“We all found out that Obama is a homosexual who is married to a man who disguises himself as a woman. This isn’t a secret—it’s just not commonly acknowledged,” he stated.

When Rubin appeared visibly taken aback by Errol’s assertion that Michelle Obama is secretly male, Musk reaffirmed his stance, saying, “You mean to tell me you haven’t heard that before? Joan Rivers openly talked about it. Two weeks later, she mysteriously passed away. They silenced her, no doubt. Look it up anywhere—it’s not hidden.”

His comments referenced a joke made by the late comedian Joan Rivers in 2014 regarding Michelle Obama’s gender identity. Rivers died shortly thereafter due to complications from a surgical procedure. However, no legitimate connection has ever been established between her remarks and her death, making Errol’s insinuation particularly misleading and reckless.

Meanwhile, Barack Obama and Michelle Obama continue to play prominent roles in American politics. As recently as August 2024, the former first lady stood beside her husband as he addressed an enthusiastic crowd at the Democratic National Convention, where Vice President Kamala Harris was formally announced as the party’s nominee for the upcoming presidential election.

Errol Musk Takes Aim at His Son, Elon

In addition to making incendiary remarks about the Obamas, Errol also turned his criticism toward his own son, Elon Musk, condemning his parenting methods.

During the podcast, he addressed the tragic passing of Elon’s first child, who succumbed to sudden infant death syndrome (SIDS) at just ten weeks old. According to Errol, the infant received excessive care from nannies rather than parental supervision, which he implied contributed to the heartbreaking loss.

“The baby was constantly being attended to by nannies, and tragically, that’s when it happened. If Elon hears me say this, he’s probably going to come after me. But it’s just what I believe,” Errol remarked.

He further criticized Elon’s approach to raising his other children, saying, “They had too much money, too many caretakers. Then he had five more kids with the same woman, and every single one had their own nanny. The whole thing was bizarre.”

Elon Musk, who has fathered at least 12 children, has frequently expressed disdain for his father. He has publicly labeled Errol as “malevolent” and an “awful person,” making it clear that their relationship remains strained.

Following his contentious statements, social media users on X (formerly Twitter) wasted no time in condemning Errol Musk for propagating a long-debunked conspiracy theory.

One user mocked him, writing, “Imagine actually believing this nonsense!”

Another added, “Errol Musk is the last person who should be calling anyone else unfit—his son literally thinks he’s evil.”

Some pointed out that Errol’s history of controversial statements, including past remarks about his own family, made it difficult to take him seriously. Others questioned why he was given a platform at all.
