Carrie Underwood and her spouse Mike Fisher are frequently seen on the red carpet. They have attended many top global award shows together, such as the Grammys, CMA Awards, and American Music Awards.

This couple often looks adorable on these occasions. Mike, a former hockey star, is regularly spotted at the CMT Music Awards showing support for his wife. He joined her there in several years including 2012, 2013, 2014, 2015, 2016, 2018, and 2019.

After the pandemic, award shows changed a bit, yet Mike was back supporting his wonderful wife in 2022.

However, at the CMT Awards on April 2, 2023, in Austin, Texas, Mike was missing. What was the reason?

Mike Fisher and Carrie Underwood weren’t having trouble. Mike chose not to attend and stayed home as his wife was nominated for Female Video of the Year and Video of the Year.

When asked about her husband’s absence, the “Hate My Heart” singer explained he was taking care of their kids that night.

“My husband is watching the children. He manages our home when I’m busy with events like this,” she stated. She noted that even though she was away, she was still keeping tabs on her three boys.

The venue change in 2023 might have limited Mike’s ability to attend. Previously, the CMTs were always in Nashville, the heart of country music. In November 2022, the event moved to Texas.

Despite being far from her sons in Texas, Carrie dazzled in a rhinestone outfit, ready to top any Best Dressed list.

Carrie Underwood and Mike Fisher try to keep their children, Jacob and Isaiah, away from public attention. Last year, to maintain a normal life for them, they didn’t take the kids on tour.

“They are staying home this time,” Carrie told ET Canada. “Our oldest needs to stay in school. We want their lives to be as regular as possible.”

Carrie praised Mike’s parenting, saying it allows her to focus on her career. “I’m lucky,” she confessed. “My husband is fantastic. He handles everything at home when I’m away. I never worry about things like packed lunches or dirty laundry.”

Becoming a parent was something Mike looked forward to. Before Isaiah was born in 2015, he expressed his excitement about fatherhood to The Tennessean.

“People say you can’t understand it until it happens, and then it’s the best,” he stated. “I just want to be the best dad I can be.”

Carrie and Mike weren’t always on the same page about parenting. Carrie admitted in “Mike and Carrie: God & Country” that she wasn’t sure about being a great mom at first.

“I’ve never been great with kids. Why would mine be any different?” she wondered. Initially, family life wasn’t a priority for her.

“I never really thought about getting married or having a family. I was okay on my own,” she mentioned. But Mike had always hoped for a family life similar to his upbringing.

“I grew up with three siblings and wonderful parents. I just wanted a family like that,” he explained.

Ultimately, everything turned out well for them. Carrie and Mike, along with their sons, now live in the countryside. After Isaiah’s birth, Carrie’s view on being a mom transformed. She admitted to Redbook Mag, “It’s changed who I am. I’m happier most of the time. I’m totally in love!”
