Ariana Grande has long been a cherished figure in the entertainment world, admired for her incredible talent, striking beauty, and down-to-earth personality.

However, her most recent public appearances have sparked concern among her fans.

“Alarmingly Thin”

Ever since gaining fame as a young actress on Victorious, Ariana Grande has remained a well-known name. Over the years, she has undergone numerous changes, both in her career and personal life. However, her latest transformation—marked by a significant drop in weight—has certainly not gone unnoticed.

When she made an appearance at the BAFTA Film Awards, social media was soon flooded with reactions regarding her physical appearance.

The 31-year-old singer often finds herself at the center of ongoing conversations about her body whenever she steps into the public eye.

A recent image of her signing autographs at the BAFTAs led to a wave of comments from fans, with many describing her as “shockingly thin” and “extremely underweight.”

One concerned commenter wrote, “She looks dangerously thin. I really hope she’s able to turn things around before it’s too late. Her body must be under extreme stress.”

Another remarked, “She has struggled with anxiety, and honestly, in this picture, she looks like she’s improving. There was a time when she seemed even thinner.”

“I really hope she’s okay. She doesn’t look well,” another person added. “Something seems off.”

Many quickly speculated that her noticeable weight loss might be due to an eating disorder (ED).

“There’s being Hollywood slim, and then there’s being unhealthily thin—this is the latter,” one comment read.

“This is clearly anorexia,” another person stated, while someone else agreed, writing, “Wow, she looks severely anorexic. She needs immediate help before it takes a serious toll on her body.”

“This is starting to become really worrying,” a fan expressed. “Every time she makes a public appearance, she seems to be getting thinner. To those saying she’s fine—no, she’s not. This is a textbook case of anorexia.”

“She obviously has an ED and requires support,” another user pointed out. “She’s frighteningly thin nowadays… at this point, she’s practically skin and bones.”

Dr. Patrick Wanis, an expert in human behavior and relationships, explained that the ongoing focus on Ariana Grande’s body stems from what psychologists refer to as a “parasocial relationship”—where fans form a deep, one-sided emotional bond with a celebrity, despite having no actual connection to them.

“Ariana Grande first gained widespread recognition as a Nickelodeon star at around 17 years old. Many people grew up watching her and associate her with a certain youthful and innocent image,” Dr. Wanis shared in an email to Bored Panda.

“As a result, any change in her appearance—whether it’s weight fluctuation or simply aging—feels magnified because people expect her to remain the same forever. Her audience still sees her as that young girl from their past.”

Weight-related scrutiny in Hollywood is nothing new. Countless celebrities, including Christina Aguilera and Katy Perry, have faced similar public reactions when their bodies changed in any noticeable way.

Extreme Pressure

Celebrities—especially women—are often subjected to immense societal pressure to meet unattainable beauty standards, sometimes leading to unhealthy weight loss methods.

Although Ariana has not publicly addressed concerns about her health, her fans continue to express their hope that she prioritizes her well-being.

“The public places impossible expectations on female celebrities—they’re expected to be thin but not ‘too thin,’ fit but not ‘too muscular,’ natural yet still flawless,” Dr. Wanis explained.

According to him, this toxic combination of nostalgia, unrealistic beauty standards, and social media culture creates an overwhelming burden for stars like Grande. The expectation is that they must “stay frozen in time—forever young and adhering to impossible ideals of perfection,” said Dr. Wanis, who developed SRTT Therapy (Subconscious Rapid Transformation Technique).

Ariana has always been open about her personal struggles and her journey through the entertainment industry’s many challenges. While fans continue to admire her strength, they also want to remind her that her health and happiness should always come first.

As discussions persist, it’s evident that her supporters genuinely care about her well-being, eagerly hoping to see her thrive—both physically and mentally.
