A tragic plane crash took the lives of seven members of the beloved Nelons gospel music family.
Those who died included Jason and Kelly Nelon Clark, their daughter Amber, son-in-law Nathan Kistler, family assistant Melanie Hodges, and the pilot, Larry Haynie, along with his wife Melissa.
The only family member to survive, Autumn Nelon Streetman, shared a heartfelt message, expressing deep sorrow and appreciation for the community’s prayers and support.
The family was traveling to Alaska for the Gaither Homecoming Cruise when the plane went down in Wyoming. Witnesses reported seeing the aircraft fall from the sky in flames. Emergency responders arrived quickly, but there were no survivors.
The Nelons were famous for their gospel music and were inducted into the Gospel Music Association Hall of Fame in 2016. They created many loved songs like “I Shall Not Be Moved,” “Come Morning,” and “We Shall Wear a Robe and Crown,” leaving a strong legacy in gospel music.
Autumn expressed her “grief and gratitude for the prayers and support” as both the family and the gospel community struggle with this immense loss. The National Transportation Safety Board is investigating the cause of the crash.
This heartbreaking event has deeply impacted the gospel music world, which continues to remember and honor the Nelons for their lasting influence and great contributions to the genre.
