Jacqueline Bisset stands out in many ways.

Her career spans 58 years, during which she has acted in 58 films, showing her vast experience at age 78.

As a young girl, I looked up to Jackie Bisset, inspired by my parents’ admiration for her.

She recalls the golden era of Hollywood, being one of the few actors who does.

She was always captivating and beautiful, maturing with elegance.

Her makeup was always minimal.

Known for her striking green eyes and prominent cheekbones, Bisset portrayed a variety of characters. These included the lead in Anna Karenina, the enticing Miss Goodthighs in Casino Royale (1967), and Jackie Kennedy Onassis in America’s Prince: The John F. Kennedy Jr. Story (2003).

Her first film role was in Roman Polanski’s Cul-de-Sac in 1966.

In 1968, she appeared in three well-received films, including The Sweet Ride alongside Anthony Franciosa and Bob Denver, which led to a Golden Globe nomination.

Her notable films include Day for Night (1973), Murder on the Orient Express (1974), The Deep (1977), and more recent titles like Dancing on the Edge (2013) and Birds of Paradise (2017). She earned Golden Globe and Emmy nominations for her role in Joan of Arc (1999).

In 2021, Bisset continued to act.

She speaks English, French, and Italian and has received France’s highest honor, the Legion of Honour, in 2010 and a Lifetime Achievement Award from the Sedona International Film Festival in 2023.

Despite working with Hollywood’s most attractive men, Bisset has remained single.

She caught Frank Sinatra’s eye, and there were whispers of a romance with Steve McQueen, her co-star in Bullitt.

Yet, Bisset, a clever Englishwoman, thought they were too different.

She once described McQueen as “intimidating” and “very American,” contrasting with her British demeanor.

Her longest relationships were with Michael Sarrazin, Alexander Godunov, and Vincent Perez, yet she admits to valuing her independence too much to settle down with one person.

In an interview with the Independent, Bisset mentioned the complexities of her partners, stating that simple men weren’t her choice.

She felt that knowing someone too well could expose unpleasant traits.

She confessed to avoiding toxic relationships and adjusting her boundaries when they became too demanding.

Bisset’s fame isn’t just from her roles but also from her personal achievements, like her Golden Globe win for Dancing on the Edge. Here, she played Baroness Cremone and was later known for her roles in the French thriller The Oddger (2020).

Although seen as unpredictable, Bisset was praised for her skill in portraying characters like Rose in the film, as stated by director Russell Brown.

Bisset is also Angelina Jolie’s godmother and was 69 when she finally won a Golden Globe after numerous nominations. Her acceptance speech was heartfelt but cut short by the music.

She aged gracefully, famously saying that forgiveness is the best beauty secret during her Golden Globes speech.

Bisset never considered plastic surgery, believing it doesn’t make one look younger, just more unique.

She continues to be a beacon of authenticity and generosity in the entertainment industry.

Jacqueline is an extraordinary person and remains one of my favorite actresses.
