Subway, the global restaurant and deli franchise, has faced challenges in recent years. Jerry Fogel, a longtime spokesperson for Subway, was convicted on charges involving inappropriate images and exploiting children.
He has been incarcerated and has created many problems with his attempts to escape prison. Despite the arrest and conviction of their spokesperson, customers still visit Subway locations.
At Subway, patrons can access healthier meals compared to Burger King and McDonald’s.
When selecting a sandwich, customers decide their preferences. They choose their preferred bread and the sandwich fillings.
Even with these healthier choices and steady popularity, Subway had to shut down numerous stores. In 2018, around 900 locations closed, followed by an extra 500 closures.
Suzanne Greco, Subway’s CEO, has been part of the company since she was young. Franchise owners are dissatisfied with her leadership.
They believe she hasn’t provided enough support and hasn’t promoted the company’s growth. Business Insider conducted a survey of the 25,800 Subway locations in the U.S. and discovered that one-third are unprofitable.
Business Insider reported that a franchisee told them many industry members think Greco should step down as CEO. She has been informing the franchise owners that she is helping them.
The issue is that the franchises are facing significant losses. Rather than seeking a remedy for the franchises, she has stepped down.
Trevor Haynes, the chief business development officer, will serve as the temporary CEO.
