My Husband Is Pushing for His Mom to Move In With Us

Recently, my mother-in-law lost her husband. Now, my husband, her only son, thinks she should move in with us. The problem is, she’s really nosy, always criticizes everything, and she doesn’t get along with my two kids, who aren’t her biological grandchildren.

I straight up told him, “I don’t want her living in MY house.” That really set him off. He shot back, “Well, if you’re not okay with that, then tell your mother she can’t come over for dinner three times a week!”

I couldn’t believe what I was hearing.

He even said, “And tell your mom to stop leaving her stuff in our guest room. It’s like she’s practically living here with all her things around.”

His words really hurt me. Yes, my mom comes over often, but she’s never moved in with us. And she’s nothing but a joy to have around—helpful, positive, and just brings a great energy, unlike his mom.

It seems like my husband is pushing me into a corner to make me agree to have his mom live with us, and I don’t appreciate being pressured like this.

What should I do?
